This policy explains what personal data Market Compass collects, why, and what rights you have over it. We’ve written it in plain English wherever possible.
Who We Are
Market Compass (marketcompass.co.uk) is operated by Jonathan Titcombe, of 12 Thames View, Swindon, SN26 8AQ. What Personal Data We Collect
We collect the following:
- Contact form submissions: if you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.
- Usage data: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information (such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and site performance purposes.
- Cookie consent records: we store a record of your cookie preferences so we don’t ask again on every visit.
- Planner inputs: the numbers you enter into our calculators (like a mortgage balance or savings amount) are processed entirely in your own browser to show you a result. We do not see, collect, or store these figures anywhere.
Cookies
We use a cookie consent tool that lets you choose which categories of cookies to allow:
- Strictly necessary: required for the site to function (e.g. remembering your cookie preferences). These can’t be switched off.

Sharing Your Data
We don’t sell your personal data. We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run this site, which may process data on our behalf:
- Hostinger — our web hosting provider
- WPForms — processes contact form submissions

If you click an affiliate link on our site and go on to another website, that website’s own privacy policy applies to any data they collect — we’d encourage you to check it.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK (for example, in the United States). Where this happens, we rely on legally recognised safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep contact form messages only as long as reasonably needed to deal with your enquiry, typically no longer than 24 months. Usage/analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider’s standard settings.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Object to or restrict how we use your data
- Request your data in a portable format

Children’s Privacy
Market Compass is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features like analytics or advertising. We’ll update the “last updated” date at the top when we do.
